Dr Farhan is also Editorial Board Member and Advisory Board Member for International Journal of Engineering and Advanced Technology as well as serving on the advisory board for several technology firms. He is currently serving as Member Standing Committee on Transportation Demand Management ABE 50 of Transportation Research Board (TRB) at National Academy of Sciences in USA. Dr Farhan has been actively promoting the idea of traffic safety oriented smart mobility deployment and its implementation in Saudi Arabia by funded scientific research projects, trainings, workshops, and through Delphi panels on review of smart technologies. His research interests include Traffic Safety, Transportation Planning, Traffic Flow Theory, Travel Time Reliability, Smart Mobility, and Mathematical Models. Prior to joining the University in Dammam, he has served on several leadership roles as a consultant for federal government of USA, international engineering consulting firms, and for non-profit sectors. He has over 20 years of experience in successful implementation of Traffic Safety, Transportation Planning, and Transport Modeling projects in USA, Europe, and in the Middle East. Dr Muhammad Farhan is currently serving as Saudi Aramco Chair Professor of Smart Mobility and Traffic Safety Research at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
